St. Mary’s is a city in Auglaize County that roughly 8,000 people call home. Three places in St. Mary’s have made the National Register of Historic Places list: the former Fountain Hotel, Dr. Issac Elmer Williams House and Office and the former Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
St. Mary’s City Schools contains a primary, intermediate, middle and high school. Memorial High School – new building constructed in 2010 – participates in sports in the Western Buckeye League (WBL) as the Roughriders.
Fun fact: St. Mary’s was the county seat of Mercer County until 1840 and after Auglaize County was organized in 1848, St. Mary’s competed with Wapak for the county seat position, but lost.
